California's Representatives to the National Sweetheart Pageant |

| Each year since 1998, California has sent a representative to the National Sweetheart pageant in Hoopeston, Illinois. The pageant typically attracts 25-35 Miss America state pageant runners-up in a competition structured very much like the Miss America national pageant, judges by experienced Miss America judges. While it has no official affiliation to the Miss America Organization, the Sweetheart pageant has played host to a number of future Miss Americas and Miss America state titleholders who go on to compete is Atlantic City. While a strong showing at the Sweetheart pageant is no guarantee of future Miss America success, California does have an impressive track record of high-placing contestants since we began sending representatives in 1998. | ||
