1-Connie Conway Miss California's Outstanding Teen Judge

Connie Conway

Connie Conway followed in her father’s footsteps when in 1999 she was elected to the Tulare County Board of Supervisors to the seat formerly held by her late father John R “Bob” Conway. Connie became the second woman in the history of the county to serve on the board. Active in the community on a variety of boards and charitable organizations, public service seemed to be part of her DNA. “The opportunity to serve the public is an honor and I was humbled by the support of so many in the community,” said Connie recently. While serving on the board Connie was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to chair the CA Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley, a regional consortium of business and government to elevate the quality of life in the Central Valley. That partnership is still thriving today. In 2006 Connie was chosen by her peers to serve as president of the California State Association of Counties. In 2008 Connie ran and was elected to the California State Legislature, serving as the Assembly District 26 representative for 6 years. Recognized by her caucus as someone who got things done Connie served as the Assembly Republican Leader for four years making her the longest-serving leader in the legislature since term limits were enacted. In addition, she was the second woman to hold that position. Connie has been a volunteer at the World Ag Expo for many years as well as serving ex officio on the board of directors for 6 years. “The WAE is the largest show of this kind anywhere. Visitors from all over the United States and the world come together to make it so great. The thing that sets it apart is the fantastic “orange jacket” volunteers. They are the lifeblood of the show and I love and respect each and every one of them “.
