Hi guys! So for those that maybe I haven't met, my name is Hazel Payne and I am Miss Napa County 2015! Man crazy to think the time is almost here! Anyone else freaking out too?! For me, this was my third year competing (First Runner Up twice!) before finally winning a spot in the Miss California class. We are about to be a part of such a unique experience, one few women have the opportunity to be a part of. I cannot wait! But this moment isn't just something I have been waiting for, but a few others have been waiting for too.
So let's start with the infamous, Tony Moises. When you even speak of Tony in the Miss California Organization one word comes to mind (besides Bruce Lee) selfless. He drives countless hours to girls from all over the state to help them with their interview prep. He judged me in my first pageant in the Miss America Organization, and also in this most recent one where I won Miss Napa County. It was great to see things come full circle from that less confident person I was a few years ago, to someone who could command a room. Many of you girls have had the same interview “drills” the stop watch, the flash cards, the Starbucks. No matter what background we had, he has the same goal for us all, to be confident, to “be water”. Tony is an asset to our organization but also to my life. I use his advice in my life everyday. I am thankful to have crossed paths with him. This is an exciting moment for us both. I promised you in August we would see each other in Fresno this year, and here we are. I wouldn't be here without you. Thank you my friend.
Gabino and Sarah: I cannot tell you how thankful I am to have you to! I know I have spoken about them in my last blog, but thank you doesn't compare to the gratitude I feel for you guys! Thanks for always being there! Through the ups and downs you both knew I'd be here one day! It's here, I'm still waiting for it to all sink in!
The lovely Michelle Moser has also been a staple in my life/pageant experience! For those that don't know her, she is the Executive Director of the Miss Marin Scholarship Organization. She also was there for us ladies buying our merchandise at orientation last month. Michelle is an amazing volunteer and truly has a heart of gold! Not to mention she's a fabulous cook (and so is her husband, Dean) From our dinners and talks, to our dress up times, to talent rehearsals she has always been there in my corner. I am thankful to have you as a part of Team Napa!
Each of these individuals has helped to get me to where I am today. As I go through this experience, they too are also going right along with me. There are countless others I could include, Vera, Gwen, Kym, Cricket, my mom, my sister, my family, the list is countless, but I would be writing a book if I wrote something on every one of you not a blog. Just know that each of you has helped get me to this place and I am so determined to make you all proud! So if you ladies see these individuals around in Fresno next month, thank them!! They do so much for this organization and us ladies! A lot of it we don't even see! It's people like them that make the Miss California Organization the best in the state!
