Angel Joy Blue
1st Runner-up, Miss California 2006
California soprano Angel Blue’s voice has been recognized for its shining and agile upper register, “smoky” middle register, and beautiful timbre. She has performed internationally and won numerous awards.
Miss Blue was a finalist in Operalia 2009, receiving first place in the Zarzuela competition, and second place in the Opera competition. Angel was honored to be a part of the 17th Annual Verbier Festival, held in July 2010 in Verbier, Switzerland. It was here she sang in an “Operalia Tribute” Concert sponsored by Rolex. She has also received awards from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Regional Auditions, A.E.I.O.U Italian Educators Vocal Competition, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion’s Emerging Young Entertainers Award, and the Redlands Bowl Competition.
In 2011, Blue toured with Placido Domingo, opening for him at the Kaufmann Center in Kansas City, Missouri, the Royal Opera House in Muscat, Oman, and at his concerts in Beijing, China as well as Zagreb, Croatia. In 2012 Angel sang die Dritte Norn in Oper Frankfurt’s production of Götterdämmerung with Sebastian Weigle conducting, Giulietta in Hoffmann Erzählungen in Wien, Austria, Clara in Porgy and Bess in Concert with the Berlin Philharmonic conducted by Sir Simon Rattle.
During her time competing in the Miss California Organization, Blue garnered multiple awards at both the local and state level recognizing her excellence in the talent competition.
Miss California 2006
Jacquelynne is currently on tour as Carlotta Giudicelli, the Italian opera diva, in the brand new 25th Anniversary Broadway National Tour of Phantom of the Opera! At home on both the operatic and concert stage, Jacquelynne Fontaine was called “a soprano new to us, and all the more wondrous for that” by Alan Rich, reviewer for the New York Times and Los Angeles Times newspapers. Recent operatic lead roles include: Violetta in La Traviata, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Donna Anna and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, and Ilia in Idomeneo. She made her professional operetta debut performing Kathie in The Student Prince with the Pittsburgh CLO and was names a “charming and vivacious actress” in Talkin’ Broadway.
Musical theater credits include: Countess Charlotte in “A Little Night Music” with the Indiana Repertory Theatre, The Ragazza in the World Premiere New Musical “A Room With a View” at the Old Globe Theater in San Diego, and Anna in “The King & I” with Opera North. Recital and orchestral highlights: Sunday’s Live on KUSC at LACMA, Jacaranda Concert Series, Orchestra del Lazio, in Rome Italy, Marina del Rey Orchestra, Redlands Bowl, South Coast Symphony, and the Cal Lutheran Distinguished Speakers Series.
