Meet Mikaela Harris
The talented and vivacious 16-year-old Mikaela Harris hails from Fresno, California and attends San Joaquin Memorial Catholic High School. Thrust into the limelight after winning the pageant on her first attempt, she has captured the hearts of all who meet her – especially through her platform “Music as Therapy” of which she is an advocate on the local, state, and federal levels. She believes in “promoting awareness and acceptance of music therapy as a form of primary medicine,” and has partnered with St. Agnes Hospital, the Fairwinds Retirement Community, and Clovis Community Hospital to integrate music therapy as a form of treatment.
Formerly Miss Clovis’ Outstanding Teen 2013, Mikaela is an accomplished pianist and composer. She arranged “Seasons”, the piece she performed at the 2014 Miss America’s Outstanding Teen pageant held in Orlando, Florida. She plans on earning a Master’s in Music Therapy before going on to become a professional Music Therapist.
Mikaela is also a smart cookie. She’s a member of the National Honor Society and is ranked in the 98th percentile nationwide in the ACT Standardized Test. As if that isn’t enough to get colleges clamoring over her, she’s also a committed student leader. She was President of her Student Council, is a Varsity Cheerleader, plays on the Women’s basketball team, and was a USA Track and Field Junior Olympics State Champion in the Triple Jump and Long Jump.
