Miss California Sunshine Girls

The Miss California Sunshine Girls is an exciting opportunity for girls ages 5 to 12 to participate in a week of activities during Miss California State Competition week. This non-competitive program teaches etiquette and allows young girls the opportunity for mentorship from our Miss and Teen State delegates.

"I started my journey in 2008 with the Miss Placentia Yorba Linda Little Sisters program and the Miss California Little Sisters program in 2014 where I had the honor of being crowned by Crystal Lee (Miss CA 2013) and Mikaela Harris (Miss CA Teen 2013). I loved getting to know so many incredible local and CA state titleholders, and the experience will always be so special to me. This program and the sisterhood are a huge reason for why I wanted to compete and eventually continue to be involved as a volunteer. From being a Teen in 2018 and now Miss Yorba Linda 2024, I am so grateful to be able to share my story and to mentor the next generation of Little Sisters!"

"I joined the Miss California Little Sisters program in 2009 and 2010 with my little sister Miranda. We had so much fun getting to know Monica Stainer (Miss CAOT 2009) and Ruth Stainer (Miss CA 2010 1st Ru). It was such an exciting experience and I continue to look up to them to this day. Both sisters were from my same hometown, ballerinas, and really helped me break out of my shell because I was always so shy. The Stainer sisters have been so supportive throughout my Miss America journey now and beyond! Now as Miss Canyon Hills 2024, I am so excited to mentor the next generation of curious and enthusiastic Little Sisters.

"I joined the Miss California Little Sisters program in 2014 and continued in 2015. In my two years in the program I was able to create so many bonds with my fellow Little Sisters and the local titleholders that I still have today! One thing I will never forget was when I was backstage watching Tiffany Richardson (Miss Kings County 2015) compete for Miss California, and thinking to myself, "I want to do that one day!" The local and state titleholders that I met were always such huge inspirations in my life, and are the reason that I competed as a Teen in 2018, and am now back as a Miss. I hope to be that person for other girls in our program and inspire the next generation to follow their dreams!"-Miss Kings County '24

Pageant week activities may vary from year to year but your daughter will participate in:

  • Onstage dance routine on the Miss California Stage

  • Crowing Party with her official Miss America Crown and Sash

  • Autograph session with our Miss and Teen State contestants

Enrollment for 2026 is now closed

Parent & Volunteer Commitment

The Miss California Sunshine Girls Program is dedicated to providing a non-competitive safe, positive, empowering, and respectful environment where all participants can grow in confidence, leadership, etiquette, and character. Parents, guardians, and volunteers play a critical role in modeling professionalism, kindness, and care.

 

By participating in this program, all parents and volunteers agree to uphold the following standards of conduct.

  • The physical, emotional, and mental safety of all participants is the top priority.

  • Treat all participants, families, volunteers, and staff with courtesy, respect, and professionalism.

  • Encourage confidence, sisterhood, and personal growth, rather than perfection or competition.

  • Celebrate and be inclusive of each child’s individuality, effort, and progress.

  • Avoid placing unrealistic pressure on participants regarding appearance, performance, or outcomes.

  • Emphasize learning, mentorship, and character development.

  • Follow all program rules, schedules, and instructions during rehearsals, workshops, and pageant events.

  • Represent the Miss California Sunshine Girls program positively online and in public.

  • Do not post content involving participants without proper permission.

  • Avoid negative commentary about participants, families, staff, or the organization on social media.

  • ​Act as positive role models, mentors, and advocates for youth.

Miss America's Little Sisters Pinky Promise Pledge

I pinky promise to cherish my health every day and help my sisters in every way. Together we promise to take good care supporting women everywhere. We’ll take charge and be wise because our health is the greatest prize!
